Message from political prisoners at Combinado de Guantánamo

The Information Bridge Cuba Miami.

(GUANTÁNAMO, Cuba, April 25 / Puenteinfocubamiami.org) - Alberto Martínez Fernández, president of the club of Prisoners and Former Political Prisoners in Guantánamo and promoter of the Varela Project, gave an exclusive telephone interview to Agenda Cuba, last Sunday, April 25, in their radio program at WQBA 1140, to among other things, reveal to the world a message given to him by a group of the 75 peaceful oppositionists tried summarily by the Castro regime in 2003.

First I want to give the following message to the World given from the bars of the prison cells at Combinado de Guantánamo by a group of the 75 prisoners of conscience unjustly tried summarily by the Castro regime in 2003, and it reads as follows:

"Brothers, we received with great enthusiasm and love, the news of the condemnation to Fidel Castro's regime in Geneva, and we thank our brothers in the diaspora for their solidarity, support and work, so that our voices are heard at important forums like that of Geneva. Thank you, thank you very much.

"These news are also a source of fortitude and gives us more strength to continue fighting this battle that seems that it won't culminate for the time being, but we will continue firm, fighting inside and outside the Cuban prisons for a new dawn for our people, for the right to the rights of the Cuban people".

Alberto Martínez Fernández, president of the Prisoners and Former Political Prisoners in Guantánamo and promoter of the Varela Project, was released from prison on April 17, 2004, upon completing a 1 year and three month's sentence at Combinado de Guantánamo, for the supposed crime of contempt.

This message was given to political prisoner Alberto Martínez Fernández, through the bars of the cells at Combinado de Guantánamo by a group of the 75 political prisoners tried in summary trials on 2003,and revealed by him only days after his release from prison during his exclusive telephone interview in Agenda Cuba in their radio program at WQBA 1140 AM, last Sunday, April 25, 2004. Recorded, transcribed and translated to English by the Information Bridge Cuba Miami on the 25th day of April 2004.
