CABAÑAS, March 24 (Moisés Leonardo Rodríguez Valdés,
Grupo Decoro / www.cubanet.org) - In a series of raids starting March 20, Cuban
authorities have been confiscating tons of products and equipment from operators
in the informal economy in the area of Mariel, Pinar del Río province,
northwest of Havana.
The raids, carried out by police, Communist party, and government officials,
seem to be part of a larger effort against various aspects of the informal
economy that has been going on since January.
