HAVANA, October 18 (Fara Armenteros, UPECI / www.cubanet.org) - Contaminated
water is presumed to be behind an outbreak of dysentery in Bolondrón,
Matanzas province, according to Health Department sources, who said recent
analysis found cattle excrement in the water.
In addition, Juan Felipe Requeijos, a local resident said, several water
mains are broken, and where the breaks are, water pools along with soil and
excrement. "When the pump starts up, it draws water along with everything
else from these pools and delivers it through the pipes," said Requeijos.
