PINAR DEL RIO, June 1 (Víctor Rolando Arroyo, UPECI /
www.cubanet.org) - Pastor Rubén Odio Aldana has barred a government
opponent from attending services at the Getsemani Pentecostal Church in Las
Martinas, Pinar del Río province.
The opponent, Luis Enrique González, 31, said he was headed to the
church recently when Pastor Odio barred him from entering, telling him the
prohibition was due to his stance against the government.
"González has belonged to the congregation for more than two
years and he has never linked his political and religious activities," said
Horacio Piña, a human rights activist in the area.
Several anti-government activists agreed that Pastor Odio must have been
pressured by the Department of State Security, which arrested González
for several hours May 18.
