Cases Of Dengue Fever Reported In Havana

HAVANA, October 5 (Oswaldo de Céspedes, CPI) - Cases of dengue fever have been reported in the Havana municipalities of Boyeros, Cerro, Marianao, La Lisa and Playa.

The Ministry of Public Health has been movilizing throughout the city, mostly spraying known breeding grounds of the mosquito Aedes aegypti, the principal vector of the disease. In the 10 de Octubre district alone, over 690 such spots had been identified.

An outbreak of dengue fever at the end of the 70’s claimed more than 100 victims.
