MATANZAS, June 12 (Caridad Díaz Beltrán, Lux InfoPress) The government had approximately 1,000 children transported to Havana from nearby Cárdenas to participate in a march demanding rafter boy Elián Gonzálezs return.
The children were awakened at around 3 a.m. in Cárdenas, Eliáns home city, and packed into 25 tour buses that delivered them to the plaza in front of the U. S. Interests Section in Havana, where the protest march was held. The government later said that 200,000 children had
participated in the event.
