HAVANA, June 30 (María del Carmen Carro, UPECI) Cuban-government radio and TV announcers are concerned about the future of their profession.
One of them, Gladys Gorizueta, commented about the lack of professionalism shown by some of their colleagues.
At the same time, she commented on the misuse of language, which doesn't allow listeners to determine whether it's a Cuban, an Argentine or a Mexican who's speaking. They elongate their vowels in such a way that they lose rythm and tonality.
Other announcers recommended that their colleagues go to speech therapists to overcome problems with enunciation.
Yet, even though most demand more respect for the profession, they seem to be unconcerned by the proper use of language, said other announcers.
