CIENFUEGOS, November 28 (Alina Gonzalo, Cuba-Verdad) The local
hospital in Aguada de Pasajeros, near Cienfuegos, had neither the medicine to
treat a 3-year-olds asthma, nor an ambulance to transport him to the
provincial hospital where he could be treated.
Gitlys Castillo Rodríguez went to the "Alipio León"
hospital at 2 p.m. and found the medicine indicated to alleviate his asthma
attack was not available. The child and his mother waited until almost 7 p.m.
for an ambulance to transport him to the hospital in Cienfuegos, the provincial
capital.
Hospital officials say there are no spare parts to repair several ambulances
that are not in service.
